“Body Rhetoric” is an exhibition dealing with the philosophical issues of the human form and the affect of the human body as a vehicle for narrative in the 21st century. Artists Lynn Colingham, Pabi and Chason Huggins explore and expose issues of bodily function, human anatomy, social and physical gestures, as well as constituents of morality, sexuality and pleasure through painting, video and performance. Both humorous and anxious, the works evoke a projection of personal interests, desires, investments and phobias from the viewer.

This year’s presentation includes a comprehensive archive catalogue, juried exhibition, and slide slam.

| Sledgehammer Constitution seeks to embrace destruction as an artistic technique used in the process of creation. Works concentrated on this theme are being displayed at the historic Diego Rivera Gallery. Calamitous constructions included in the show treat obliteration not as an end, but a beginning, a method of artistic expression.
Curated by Christina Elliott and featuring the work of Alexis Courtney, Lana Williams, Carolyn Jean Martin, Shay Arick, Pabi Chulo, Amber Crabbe, Marshall Elliott, Anthony A. Russell, Elisabeth Ajtay, and Simon Wolf Sledgehammer Constitution emphasizes the role of destruction in the creative process. The works selected include collage, painting, sculpture, video, performance, and literary publication. |

The Negotiation presents the work of artists Michal Wisniowski, Elin Bengtsson, Francesca Du Brock, and Pabi, as dialogues with the traumatic.
Trauma manifests itself in multiple realities, from the secret and personal, to the national or global. To exist is to be confronted with trauma, and we devise mechanisms and strategies for negotiating its presence. In The Negotiation, strategies for a dialogue with the traumatic are explored in two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and time-based media.
The Diego Rivera Gallery is located on the San Francisco Art Institute campus at 800 Chestnut St. in San Francisco.
~~~
About the Artists:
Michal Wisniowski is a Polish born artist residing in the San Francisco bay area. His formative years were divided between then-communist Poland and living in a racially hostile Germany as a political refugee. Immigration to the United States in the nineties served as additional culture shock and continuation of a nomadic life-style that would bring him to live in Montana, then North Carolina, and finally California.
Elin Bengtsson spent her first 28 years in the forests of Sweden, which left her with a dark mind, good skin, and a BFA from Valand School of Fine Arts. For the last 2 years she has been adjusting to the Californian air, increasingly occupied with the idea of Gods wrath.
Francesca Du Brock was born and raised in Alaska and has lived throughout the United States and South America. She is interested in exploration, exile, displacement, shifting identity, and memory.
Pabi is a Danish artist concerned with revealing formative memories and their manifestation through the body. Through his work, he expresses the enduring scars of body and soul that stay with us for life.
Go see the exhibition “Believe The Hype” at Galleri Wolfsen I Aalborg. Collector and Curator Rasmus Fischer has made an exhibition with, what he belives is the most talentet danish upcoming artist. I´m proud to be selected for this ambitious show and of cause for the great interest and sale.
The Exhibition will last until the 3rd of March.
